I can feel your heartbeat

I remember lying in bed as a kid, dead silence except for the noise of my heart beating. There was something soothing about it. Weird? maybe. But Ive always been fascinated with heart beats. I love listening to them. IM guessing this is what led to my fascination with the heart and blood. But we arent talking about blood today...
Heart beats-theres something so simple about it... lub dub, lub dub, lub dub... but really it represents a very complicated system in the human body. When I listen to my heart beat its a nice moment of- is serenity the right word? its easy to just relax and listen-block out all the other noises.
Have I mentioned yet that I got a stethoscope for Christmas??? Its pretty awesome!!! I find myself pulling it out and just listening to my heart beat. *push up the nerd glasses* i know...
Theres my random thought for the day

side note-i learned in undergrad that the reason you can hear your heartbeat (w/o a stethoscope) is because theres a blood vessel that runs near your tympanic membrane (eardrum)
