Ridiculous!
Tonight I went with my parents to see Jake Shimabukuro. He was pretty awesome. My parents and sister are big fans. I havent really been exposed to him much, but Im always up for something new. So we head to St louis and go to this former church now bar/venue (Lucas School House) and listen to this guy play. First of all he's a totally cool/nice guy (at least from the one hour i saw of him :) ) and secondly he's totally into his music and rocks out on the ukulele. Did I metion he plays the ukulele? didnt think so.. rocks out to the ukulele, not something you hear too often. Im posting a few videos from youtube of the songs that I liked the best tonight. All of them were amazing. He has such a wide range of influences that show through in his music. Most of what he played was not hugely "hawaiian" music. He played some Beatles, George Harrison, Led Zeppelin, Cyndi Lauper, and Franz Shubert (the classical composer!) and when you listen to these.. remember the ukulele has 4 strings!

check out: "Orange World" "Lets dance" and "Me and Shirley T" then go to youtube and check out "Going to california" "while my guitar gently weeps" and "blue roses falling" from him. Some of these are covers-others are originials.
